Isaiah 61 :10.”…for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation and covered me with the robe of righteousness.”
Just as certain clothes seem to easily combine well with some other types of clothing in an outfit, so also does our heavenly Father offer us some gifts in pairs. The gifts of salvation and righteousness for example, fall in this category. (Isaiah 61:10).
I have also noticed that everybody seems to have a favourite garment.
(I recall in particular one favorite dress of my wife, she just loves it).
Similarly, the garment of righteousness is one such garment I suggest every child of God must love. Here is why I say so:
- The garment of righteousness was one of Jesus’ favourite garments while on earth.
“It was said of him, thou hast loved righteousness and hated iniquity; therefore God … has anointed you with the oil of gladness above thy fellows”. (Hebrews 1:9).Wow! I choose to love, even in this perverse generation, what Jesus loved. - The garment of righteousness protects your heart.
The Bible calls this garment the breastplate of righteousness. (Eph 6 :14b). This means it covers one of the most vital organs in your body, the heart which is your spirit. - Righteousness exalts and causes you to reign in life.
The Bible says ”those who receive the gift of righteousness shall reign in life, through Christ.” (Rom 5:17). ”Righteousness indeed exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Prov 14:34).
Dear friend, I encourage you to cherish this particular gift dearly and put it on regularly, because of the amazing benefits it carries (Eph 6:14).
Never also forget, that in heaven we shall be arrayed in clean and bright fine linen, as a reward for the righteous acts of the saints.(Rev 19:8).
Put on your garment of righteousness today and be richly blessed!
