Heb 4:7
”Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it “Today”
A careful study of life will reveal that we are actually given just a day to function; and that day is called today.
The King James Version of our key scripture puts it this way ”Again, He limiteth a certain day…” . This presupposes He set a boundary to today. Indeed, God has appointed or designated just a day for man; and anyone who would like to amount to anything must make the best out of today.
In fact out of the 3 days outlined below, TODAY is the only day we really have.
1. Yesterday.
There are people who remain imprisoned in their past, whether past successes or failures. To this, Apostle PauI says: ”this one thing I do, forgetting what is behind… I press on to the goal.” (Philip 3:13-14). It’s time to put your past behind you and take advantage of today.
2. Today.
Have you noticed that Jesus was always conscious of today? In his first public statement to the world, He ended by saying, ”today this scripture is fulfilled in your ears”. (Luke 4 :21). He made reference to the future only in relation to now. ”The time is coming and has now come”. (John 4: 23). This is because he understood that the successes of tomorrow are as a result of the choices you make today.
3. Tomorrow.
Trust me, tomorrow really never comes. I find it rather interesting that when Moses asked Pharaoh when he wanted the plaque of frogs to leave Egypt, he answered: tomorrow. (Exod 8: 10). He wanted one more night with the frogs. What a shock! Today is the day of salvation and if you hear His voice do not harden your heart.
Dear friend, do not postpone to tomorrow what you can do today Learn to live in the present. Make the most out of the 24hours that has been given to you. The Psalmist says ”The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad.”
(Psm 118:24.)
Today really is the right time to believe, to love, to preach, to act and to live. Your future is in Today, with a capital T!
