“About noon as I came near Damascus, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around me. I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, ‘Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?’” – Acts 22:6–7
In Acts 22 we read a beautiful account of the apostle Paul giving a full testimony of his conversion in defence of the gospel.
Paul had been arrested, just as the Holy Spirit had predicted through Prophet Agabus in Acts 21, but his arrest also offered him the opportunity and the platform to share the gospel through his own testimony.
Just like Paul, we all have different opportunities on a daily basis to share our faith, but only a few take advantage of them. There are many simple but effective ways to do this:
1. You can share the word God puts in your heart with people you come into contact with.
2. You can invite people to come to church and see what the Lord is doing through your ministry.
3. You can share this devotional, or any message that blesses you, with others on social media.
4. But probably one of the most effective ways to share the gospel is by telling your own story about what Christ has done for you. This is exactly what Paul does in Acts 22 so passionately. Jesus told the madman of Gadara to go back and tell his neighbours what the Lord had done for him (Mark 5:19).
“Jesus did not let him, but said, ‘Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.’” (Mark 5:19)
Beloved, you can also do the same. Stories are always captivating and powerful to hear. People may forget the text, but not the story; they are authentic and bring home to the listener what Jesus can do for them too.
The Bible says, “Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story—those he redeemed from the hand of the foe.” (Psalm 107:2).
May your life story draw many to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Bless you.
