Exo 20:8
”Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy.”
A day of remembrance is a day or a season you mark because of an occurrence or event that makes the day or period memorable.
For instance, the world can never forget year 2020, a year when the whole world was shut down for a few weeks as a result of covid19.
How can America ever forget September 11th, the day the twin towers of the World Trade centre came down through terrorist attack?
As vivid as these days are, there are also biblical days of remembrance every child of God must take note of.
The Sabbath day (Exod 20:8)
The Bible instructs us to remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy because God finished all his creative work on that day. Moreso, the New Testament reminds us that there still remains a sabbath rest for all God’s people.(Heb 4:9).
The day of Passover (Exod 12)
This was the day the Lord supernaturally redeemed the people of Israel from bondage in Egypt. That day, God killed all the firstborn sons of the Egyptians and rescued all the Jews who marked their doorpost with the blood of the lamb. This great event foreshadowed the eventual redemption of humanity through the precious blood of Jesus.
The day of Pentecost (Acts 2)
Another significant event on the Christian calendar is the day that the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles and empowered them for exploits and worldwide evangelization.
Dear friend, as important as these days are, remember that one more day is coming. It is called “a great and notable day of the Lord.” Acts 2:20. The Bible says “the great day of the Lord draws near, it is near and hastens quickly” (Zeph 1:14). Nothing we have seen lately can be compared to that day. Get ready for a sudden end, says the Lord!
Are you ready for the second coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ?
