Rom 5:19
”For as by one man’s disobedience, many were made sinners, so also by one man’s obedience many will be made righteous.”
The gruesome murder of one man, George Floyd in the United States, has sparked a worldwide wave of protests that should hopefully address the age old problem of racism. In another development, an experiment conducted by a Japanese state, using a black light, shows how quickly viruses can spread in a restaurant when just one person is infected.
How true the saying : one man can make a difference (whether postive or negative.)
The Bible is also replete with examples of men who singlehandedly made a difference in their generation.
- David
While the whole Israel army shuddered in fear of Goliath, David took up the challenge and saved Israel. The Bible says, ”now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep”… (Acts 13: 36). - Joseph.
Joseph’s wisdom and godly counsel saved not just his family but the whole land of Egypt from a seven year drought. He said
”…but God meant it for good…as it is this day,to save many people alive” (Gen 50:20) - Mordecai
It was Modecai’s great influence on Esther, right from her early years that enabled her to be a channel of salvation: saving the Jewish people from total annihilation in the land of Susa.
Dear friend, time will not permit me to enlist other great heroes of faith, who changed the course of history.
I challenge you however today, to rise up and be a light in a dark world.
You can make a difference in your family, workplace or city.
The Bible says, “then saviours shall come to mount zion…and the kingdom shall be the Lord’s”. (Obadiah 1:22)
Remember you are not the savior, Jesus Christ is. However, you can be a channel of salvation to those around you – in your home, your city or even your nation.
Rise up and make the difference!
