The First Sign

The First Sign

Matt 24 :4
“Watch out that no one deceives you.”

When Jesus was asked by his disciples what the signs of His coming would be, the first sign he gave them was that, deception would be rife. True to his word deception has been rampant since.

Yesterday there was a widespread bitcoin give-away scam. The accounts of some big names like Elon Musk, Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos were hacked. These hackers promised to double whatever amount the unsuspecting victims wired to them, to alleviate the difficulties confronting the masses due to covid19. Unfortunately, many people fell to this scam.

The reason why such scammers succeed in their activities is not hard to find.

  1. Ignorance.
The Bible says: ”for lack of knowledge people perish.”(Hos 4: 6). Eve was deceived by the serpent in the garden because of her ignorance of what God had really said to Adam; and since then, the enemy continues to prey on the ignorance of the masses.
  2. Sheer Greed
Jesus said watchout, be on your guard against all kinds of greed.(Luke 12:15). Many in their bid to get rich quickly, have unfortunately fallen victim to such age-old tricks. The quest for overnight riches has been the doom of many, even in ministry.
  3. Demonic manipulations
Trust me, some of these scammers use demonic manipulations and enchantments to trap unsuspecting people who only come to their senses after they have been duped.

Dear friend, do not underestimate the power of deception in these endtimes. Jesus said,“for false messiahs and false prophets will appear to perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect”. Matt 24:24.

My prayer for you, is that you’ll be discerning, and be able to see through every evil trapping of the enemy. You are not a victim but a victor in Jesus’ name.
