What’s In The News?

”The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. “ Luke 4 :18

There is an explosion of information in our world today. News trickle in by the minute from all the corners of the world and in this year 2020 especially, it is said that knowledge doubles every 12 hours.

Unfortunately most of the news we hear are nothing but bad news: tsunamis, hurricanes, accidents, deaths, statisitics of covid 19 fatalities updated on a daily basis and even fabricated lies.

For example last week,a 24year old boy here in Ghana, who was charged with spreading false news (to incite the public to violence).

To this end, I have identified 3 major kinds of news in the world today.

Fake news.
This is becoming popular by the day. No doubt Jesus predicted deception as a major sign of the endtimes. (Matt 24.). Child of God, do not be a partaker in the spread of falsehood; for the devil is the father of all lies. (John 8: 44)

Bad news.
Today, news is not news until it is bad news. We are inundated with bad news from every corner and this can be heartbreaking and depressing. Endeavour not to be the one to herald bad news as it might cost you your life. ”Tell it not in Gath, proclaim not in Ashkelon” (2 Sam 1:20)

Good news
Good news is heartwarming and this is what Jesus came to offer the world. ”The spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to preach goodnews to the poor..” (Luke 4 :18).

Dear friend, the good news is that Jesus died to bring you life: a life free of diseases,(including covid 19) poverty and sin. It is the thief who comes to steal, to kill and to destroy, but Christ has come that we may enjoy life in abundance till it overflows. (John 10:10).

Be a partaker of this good news today and share it with as many people as you can. That’s the real news!
